Access Statement

The Disability Discrimination Act requires us to have a written Accessibility Statement. We aim to provide you with a detailed statement but if you would like further information please contact us.  We look forward to welcoming you.

 

Pre-arrival

  • Bookings and enquiries can be made via our website, by email or by telephone.
  • The nearest bus stop and train station are 5 miles away at Llandovery.
  • The nearest petrol station and electric vehicle charging point are at Llandovery.
  • The nearest grocery shops and supermarkets are at Llandovery.
  • Online supermarket deliveries are possible – Tesco, Asda, Morrissons.
  • The nearest pub / restaurant is The Neuadd Fawr Arms, Cilycwm, about half a mile away.
  • We provide a small amount of tea bags, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, toilet paper, kitchen roll, greaseproof paper, cling film, cleaning materials and dishwasher and washing tablets.
  • Details and directions to find us are sent out.
  • The nearest shop mobility scheme is in Carmarthen – telephone 01267 223606.

 

Arrival and car parking facilities

  • The cottage is accessed along a farm drive as indicated on the directions. The gate is always open.
  • Please park on the gravelled area around the cottage. There is ample room for parking.
  • There is a path of stone slabs to reach the front door. At the back there is a large patio area of stone slabs, which can be used as a drop off point for visitors.
  • Luggage can be unloaded outside the cottage. Assistance can be given on request.
  • The front entrance door is 96cm wide and is hinged to the right. There is one step of 12cm. There is then a 8 cm sill.
  • The front patio door is 110cm wide. There is one step of 12cm. There is then a 8 cm sill.
  • The back patio door is 164 cm wide. There is one step of 16cm.There is then a 8 cm sill.

 

The Garden

  • The cottage has a patio area with a dining table and chairs.
  • The refuse area is at the back and houses refuse and recycling bins ( details of recycling are given in the information folder).
  • Logs and kindling are kept in the shed at the back of the cottage.

     

    General Decor

    The cottage is decorated with exposed stone walls, oak beams and natural materials. Walls are painted in pale colours, there are wooden window frames and doors, wooden and slate flooring with rugs. The kitchen is in oak. The downstairs shower room is white and the upstairs bath en suite in cream. The staircase is oak. Bedding consists of non-allergenic duvets and non feather pillows, with fair trade organic cotton bedding and Welsh woollen blankets.

     

    Hallway

    • Once inside the cottage the whole of the ground floor is flat with no steps.
    • The cupboard under the stairs houses the freezer, the vacuum and there are shelves for the iron, torch and cleaning materials.
    • Oak floor with rugs.
    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.
    • Central heating control is 170cm from floor.

     

    Living Room

    • The living room is open to the kitchen, conservatory and stairs as well as the front patio area.
    • 2 leather sofas and 1 armchair to sit 6 people. Seat height 38cm
    • 1 portable coffee table.
    • TV with DVD.
    • Wood burning stove raised 18cm off the ground.
    • Bookcase with selection of books, magazines and visitor information.
    • Oak floor with rug.
    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.
    • Electric sockets are low, 40cm from the floor.

     

    Kitchen

    • Worktop height is 90cm.
    • Single oven / grill, drop down door, height of lowest shelf is 70 cm .
    • Microwave above oven hinged to the left.
    • Ceramic hob with 4 rings and turn knobs.
    • Extractor fan.
    • Kettle and toaster on worktop.
    • Integrated dishwasher.
    • Integrated fridge.
    • Washing machine.
    • Sink with turn taps.
    • Drawers x 3 to house cutlery, saucepans and equipment.
    • Storage cupboards above and below worktop.
    • Plate rack above worktop.
    • Utensils rail behind ceramic hob.
    • Fire blanked kept in cupboard above cooker.
    • Fire extinguisher kept on window
    • Stone floor.
    • There is 99cm between the kitchen units.

     

    Conservatory / dining room

    • Door from living room to conservatory is 113cm wide.
    • Dining table 178cm x 103 cm. Height  74 cm. 6 chairs , seat height  45 cm.

    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.
    • Electric sockets are low, 40cm from the floor.

     

    Bedroom 1 – ground floor

    • Off the hall, door width 88cm, hinged to the left
    • King size bed, height 66cm to top of mattress.
    • Bedside tables both sides.
    • Dressing table, height 80 cm with drawer. Hair drier provided.
    • Hanging space.
    • Oak floor with sheepskin rugs.
    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.

    Bathroom – ground floor

    • Door width 88cm, hinged on the left.
    • Walk in shower with 2 sliding doors- opening to shower 61cm.
    • Step in to shower.
    • Soap / shampoo shelf in shower corner – lower shelf 110 cm from floor.
    • Washbasin and vanity unit, 90 cm height from floor with flick tap. Shaving point to the right and small mirror on window sill – 115cm.
    • Toilet seat height 45cm.
    • Touch mirror above toilet with shaving point 125 cm from floor.

    • There are 13 steps to go upstairs – 17cm height, 23cm depth and 75 cm width.

    • Towel shelf 53cm from floor.

    Bedroom 3 – 1st floor

    • Door width 62cm , hinged to the right.
    • 2 single beds, 56cm height floor to top of mattress. 1 bed can be pushed beneath the other.
    • Built in wardrobe with hanging space 160cm from floor and cupboard space with shelves (lowest shelf is 24cm from floor).
    • Oak floor.
    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.
    • Electric sockets are low, 58cm from the floor.

     

    Gallery landing – 1st floor

    • Armchair, seat height 38 cm from floor.
    • Chest of drawers with 3 drawers. Height
    • CD player – operated by knobs or remote control.
    • This area can be used to store cases.
    • Oak floor.
    • Light switches are high, 140cm from the floor.
    • Electric sockets are low, 58cm from the floor.

     

    Additional information

    • A Visitor Information Folder is available.
    • Instructions for all electrical equipment is available.
    • We do not accept pets but access dogs are welcome.
    • WIFI and WIFI calling is available. Passwords given on arrival.
    • Fire assembly point by gate / entrance to cottage.
    • Information folder can be produced in large print.
    • Mains operated smoke alarm give an audible warning but there is no visible indicator for the hard of hearing.
